For the upcoming 3-game T20I series against West Indies, Bangladesh announced a 15-member squad earlier today. Senior batter Litton Das will lead the side for the first time since 2021 as Najmul Shanto is yet to recover from the hamstring injury. Besides Shanto, Mustafizur Rahman is also excluded from the squad as he is on paternity leave.

Bangladesh are currently on tour to the West Indies to feature in a multi-format bilateral series. The 2-game Test series was tied whereas the ODI series is currently underway. Following the conclusion of the ODI series, the two sides will compete in a 3-game T20I series.

BCB released a 15-member squad with Litton Das named the captain for the first time since 2021. Besides, the squad sees some notable inclusions and exclusions.

Najmul Shanto ruled out for T20I series with injury

Batting allrounder Shamim Hossain comes back after an absence of one year from international cricket, last playing in a T20I match in December 2023. Shamim has a modest T20I record, scoring 254 runs in 14 innings. The 21-year-old fast bowler Ripon Mondol also makes it to the team for having taken four wickets during the Asian Games held in 2023.

Several players from the last T20I squad are unavailable. Towhid Hridoy is sidelined due to a groin injury, while Mustafizur Rahman is on paternity leave. Mahmudullah has retired from the format, and Rakibul Hasan has been omitted.

Regular all-format captain Najmul Hossain Shanto continues his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained in the Afghanistan series. Hence, in his absence, Litton Das will lead Bangladesh.

The first T20I is scheduled on December 15 at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent.
