Legendary pacer Wasim Akram reveals how he would dismiss Virat Kohli

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram, who is regarded as one of the best bowlers ever made, has been in the headlines throughout his career and beyond. Akram has come again into the headlines and now commenting on the former India captain Virat Kohli and how he would plan to execute Kohli’s big wicket.

Speaking on the show ‘To Be Honest’, Akram said he would swing the ball both ways from the middle stump to trap Kohli behind the stumps.

“I would have been quite confident in myself. Two wickets down if he entered the batting at 3 or 4. I would assault them if he was a novice in the crease. I will swing the ball either toward or away from him, pitching it on the middle stump.”

Just in case swinging the ball both ways from the middle stump didn’t work, Akram spoke of a plan B too, in which he would make use of the bouncer.

“I might switch to Plan B, bowling the bouncer, if that does not work. The fielder should be placed in the deep, and then brought back inside. It is crucial to take several of these minor changes to take him down.”

Kohli, one of the best batsmen in the current generation, has been a largely inconsistent performer over the last couple of years. A batter who once scored centuries for fun has not reached the three-digit number even once since 2019.

Most recently, he looked low on confidence in the Indian Premier League as well. Kohli will now look to put his poor form behind him and start afresh when India take on England in the fifth Test starting July 1.

Akram, meanwhile, was one of the greatest pacers in the world when at his peak. He finished his career with 414 wickets in 104 Tests and 502 wickets in 356 ODIs.

The left-arm seamer, who won the 1992 World Cup with Pakistan, was among the most feared bowlers in the world for nearly two decades. He made his debut in 1984 and put curtains on his career in 2003.
