Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s most celebrated spin-duo in the modern age. They have been the two of the most successful bowlers in the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Chahal and Yadav are competing for the Purple Cap, which is presently held by Chahal, who has 18 wickets from eight matches. After getting a four-wicket haul against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium, Kuldeep moved up to second place in the leading bowlers’ list with 17 wickets. So far this season, Delhi Capitals (DC) have won four matches, and Kuldeep has been the Man of the Match on all four occasions.
For Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Yuzvendra Chahal has been one of the most consistent players since joining the franchise. However, he wasn’t retained by his former team before the IPL 2022 mega-auction. Rajasthan Royals (RR) bought the leg spinner for INR 6.5 crore.
Kuldeep had a tough time in the last two seasons of the IPL. In the 2020 edition of the league, he played only five matches for KKR and could only manage to pick a wicket. However, since joining the Delhi Capitals, the left-arm wrist-spinner has been their leading wicket-taker.
Even though Kuldeep is giving tough competition to Chahal in terms of wickets, the wrist spinner said a heart-touching thing about Chahal.
“He has encouraged me a lot and stood like a big brother to me during my bad times. So in my heart, I want him to win the Purple Cap because he has bowled exceptionally well for the past four years, “Kuldeep remarked on his relation with Chahal after the match against KKR.
“I might have become a better bowler, but I am mentally stronger than before. When you fail in life, you pick what you can improve on, and that is something I had to improve. I don’t get scared of failing now,” he further added.
The DC spinner also talks about his own performance and believes that this is the best season in IPL for him. He concluded by saying that for this season, the main aim is to pitch the ball in the right areas.
