Smriti Mandhana charts most ODI runs in a single calendar year

Prolific India Women opener Smriti Mandhana scored 23 off 32 balls against South Africa in match 10 of the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup in Visakhapatnam. The innings helped Mandhana soar past Belinda Clark’s 1997 ODI run tally of 970 runs to become the highest run-aggregator in women’s ODI cricket history in a single calendar year. Smriti Mandhana has now reached 982 runs in just 17 innings in the year 2025 so far at a prolific average of 57.76, plundering four tons and three half-centuries in the process.

Richa Ghosh cracks record-breaking 94 vs South Africa

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh smeared 94 runs from just 77 balls with 11 boundaries and four huge sixes against South Africa Women in their 2025 World Cup game. Ghosh shattered a number of unique records through her batting defiance against the South Africans. For starters, she registered the highest individual score for any batter in World Cup history, also in Women’s ODIs overall, while batting at number eight or below. Moreover, Richa Ghosh has listed the highest individual score among India wicketkeepers in any Women’s ODI World Cup game.

Mohammed Shami, Easwaran in Bengal squad for Ranji Trophy 2025-26

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been included in Bengal squad for the upcoming 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season. Top-order batter Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named as Bengal captain for the tournament, while Delhi Capitals star Abishek Porel has been appointed as his deputy. Nonetheless, Shami last played for Team India back during the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. The legendary speedster has been plagued with injury concerns off late, but according to his own admission, he is now completely “focused and practising” for a national comeback.

Andrew Flintoff leaves as Superchargers coach in The Hundred

Former England captain and legendary all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has left the Northern Superchargers franchise as its head coach after just two seasons at the service in The Hundred. While speaking to the Beard Before Wicket podcast, Flintoff confirmed that his involvement with the franchise is officially over. The cricketer-turned-coach had a pay dispute with the new owners of the franchise ahead of the 2026 The Hundred season. It is worth noting that the Northern Superchargers were recently taken over by the Sun Group, also the owners of the IPL-based Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to fly for Australia together: Report

Legendary Indian batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will reportedly join the Indian cricket team in Delhi ahead of the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia. The report also indicated that the two modern-day greats will fly to Australia together in a few days’ time. The ODI series in Australia later this month will mark the international return of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma ever since the conclusion of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE earlier this year. Both cricketers recently announced their retirements from Tests concurrently.
