The IPL 2025 is creating a buzz from five to six months before the start of the tournament. With players being released and the mega auction taking place, the fans have been thoroughly engaged in the happenings regarding the tournament.

As the tournament nears, a few teams have yet to declare their captains for the upcoming edition of the tournament. Teams like LSG, DC, KKR and RCB are yet to have a leader for IPL 2025.

According to the latest social media reports, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel might lead the team during the upcoming edition of the tournament. This would mean that Axar would be selected for the role ahead of KL Rahul.

KL Rahul has already led an IPL team and has also been in charge of the Indian national side. So, he has the experience of leading a team and could have been the prime choice for the role. However, this is the first season for Rahul for the Delhi Capitals, and he will need to adapt himself to the team culture and how the team functions. So, that could be behind the potential decision of him not being selected for the role.

On the other hand, Axar Patel has much less experience in leading a team. But he has led the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023 and has a good experience of how the team works and the dressing room culture. Given his experience with the team and the fact that he has already led them, Axar Patel might become the prime contender for the role.

As for now, the news is not confirmed, but the decision could be a reality. With the tournament still a couple of months away, the Capitals can hand over the role to Axar Patel.
