Star Indian wicket-keeper batter, KL Rahul scored a gutsy hundred to rescue India on Day 2 of the ongoing Boxing Day Test against South Africa in Centurion.

It was the second century for KL Rahul at Centurion in South Africa, having scored 123 runs back in 2021. With this, he has become the first visiting batter to score two centuries at Centurion.

In what stands out as his finest international batting performance, he notched up an impressive 101 out of India's 245, embellished with 14 fours and four sixes, all on a pitch that significantly favoured fast bowlers.

While KL Rahul has shattered numerous records with his historic century knock, there is one special achievement – he became the only player with 50+ scores in his first match as a wicket-keeper across formats.

Rahul scored 80 runs in an ODI against Australia back in 2020 when he played his first match as a wicket-keeper in Rajkot. Meanwhile, he scored 56 runs against New Zealand in Auckland in 2021, marking his debut as a wicket-keeper in a T20 match.

Rahul's display underscores his astute judgement—resisting the temptation to chase deliveries outside the off stump. Furthermore, he displayed commanding shot execution, effortlessly sending the ball over the boundaries and keeping the bowlers on their heels.
