KL makes Mumbai his bunny team as the classist scores his 2nd ton of the edition

On Sunday evening, KL Rahul’s Lucknow stepped up in the ladder as they handed the Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians its eighth loss of the IPL 2022. 

A majestic hundred from KL Rahul and an all-around bowling effort consigned the five-time champions. But, while LSG were clinical, Mumbai’s surrendered in all departments at the Wankhede Stadium. 

Despite being at 43/0 while chasing 170 runs, Mumbai stifled on a surface where the ball was gripping into the surface, and the likes of Jason Holder, Dushamantha Chameera and Krunal Pandya trapped MI batters into their web.

The last day of the league stage witnessed some intense competition among teams bidding to make the knockouts. Railways, Maharashtra, Odisha, Baroda and Mumbai sailed into the quarter-finals after topping their respective groups. Nagaland made it to the next stage from the Plate division.

Neha Badwaik and skipper Pooja Vastrakar eased victory for Railways over Madhya Pradesh. With 469 runs from six matches, she has taken her team into the knockout stage. 

Former Mumbai pacer Rajesh Verma passes away at 40 

In a tragic development, former Mumbai pacer and Ranji Trophy winner Rajesh Verma passed away Sunday morning. He left his heavenly abode on Sunday following a massive heart attack. The news of his demise was confirmed by his fellow Mumbai teammate, Bhavin Thakkar.

“He (Verma) was a sweet person, a very close friend of mine. He came from a very humble background. He was a very talented pacer. In today’s time, he would’ve done well in the IPL. He should have achieved much more than he did,” cited Thakkar. 

Lahore Qalandars’ boss compares Umran Malik with Pakistan’s sensation Haris Rauf

Sameen Rana, Owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars, has compared the youngster with Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf. 

Rana stated that Haris and Umran both had similar stories. Both started from white-ball cricket, are from Jammu and Kashmir and had no background in first-class cricket.

“If you look at Malik’s story, you will see that it has been a Haris Rauf inspired story. Maybe they had followed Haris’ story and must have thought - if it can happen in Pakistan, then why not in India,” Rana claimed.

Kuldeep Yadav’s resurgence has been one of the stories of the 15th season of the IPL. The chinaman spinner recently opened up about his experience with DC in the latest episode of the podcast hosted by the franchise.

“When you are given the freedom to express yourself, then you start to enjoy everything. When I spoke to Ricky during my first practice session with the team, he told me that he’s looking to play me for all 14 league matches,” Yadav mentioned. 

County Championship 2022 Roundup

As Round 3 of the ongoing County Championship came to an enthralling end on Sunday evening, Lancashire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire and Worcestershire showed tremendous grit and determination in their respective fixtures. 

Pakistan’s Shan Masood garnished headlines as the opener scored a spellbinding double-hundred for Derbyshire to seal an innings win over Leicestershire. Meanwhile, Brett D’Oliveira’s 169* and Jack Leach’s eight wickets thump Sussex. Whereas it was Josh Bohannon of Lancashire whose 467-ball 231 outdo Gloucestershire. 

After a marvellous end of the third round, all the teams from both Divisions will look to rest for a couple of days before they field their best XIs for Round 4, starting from Thursday (April 28).
