As per emerging reports, Kolkata Knight Riders have approached Rahul Dravid for the team mentor role ahead of the IPL 2025.

According to News18 Bangla, the outgoing Indian head coach might kickstart a new stint with the defending IPL champions, filling the mentor's vacant position.

KKR approach Dravid for mentor's role after Gambhir leaves

Notably, Gautam Gambhir, who served as KKR's team mentor during their victorious IPL 2024 campaign, recently bid adieu to the franchise with a farewell photo shoot

The former opener, who played a pivotal role in the Men in Blue's triumphant journey in the 2007 World T20 and 2011 World Cup, could be roped in as India's new head coach

As Gambhir left the KKR camp to join the Indian setup, the Knight Riders apparently planned to appoint Dravid as his successor.

Gambhir and Dravid's recent coaching success

After shifting his base from Lucknow Super Giants to Kolkata Knight Riders, Gautam Gambhir was instrumental in the latter's remarkable success in the IPL 2024.

Meanwhile, Dravid also had a fantastic stint as the Indian head coach, guiding them to glory in the recently held T20 World Cup in the Caribbean.

During his tenure, the talismanic batter also helped India reach the finals of the WTC 2021-23 and 2023 World Cup, where the Men in Blue faltered against a rampant Australian outfit.
