In an unfortunate turn of events, ace Pakistani speedster Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the remainder of the England series due to injury.

Rauf accidentally stepped on the ball while fielding in the first Test, hurting his right quad badly. The 29-year-old did not take the field for the rest of the game. Although he batted in the first innings, he did not bowl again throughout the match.

The MRI scans have revealed that Rauf has developed a grade two strain, that has sidelined him from the remaining two matches. As per PCB's official statement, he will travel to Lahore to begin his rehabilitation at the National High Performance Centre.

He had a forgettable outing in Rawalpindi, emerging as Pakistan's most expensive bowler on Day 1, conceding 78 runs in his 13-over spell.

It's unfortunate for Rauf, who made his much-awaited debut in this series. He becomes the second first-choice seamer after Shaheen Shah Afridi to be out of action due to injury. In his absence, promising seam bowling all-rounder Mohammad Wasim Jr is set to earn his debut Test cap.

Meanwhile, the second Test between the two teams will be played in Multan on December 9.
