Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has made a bold claim ahead of his side’s World Cup 2023 warm-up fixture against tournament hosts India. The cricketer-turned-commentator believes the September 30 warm-up affair between the two sides is merely a dress rehearsal for them before they eventually cross paths once again for the title clash on November 19.

Kevin Pietersen makes huge claim about World Cup 2023 final

England will enter the 2023 World Cup in India while holding a defending champions tag for the first time in their history. Meanwhile, hosts India, under Rohit Sharma, will be aiming to replicate their MS Dhoni-led 2011 home success.

Apparently, as per batting great Kevin Pietersen, both England and India will reach the 2023 World Cup final, slated to be played on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The former English captain believes the upcoming warm-up meeting between the two sides is merely a dress rehearsal for them before they eventually cross paths once again at the final.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kevin Pietersen wrote:

“Is the World Cup final being played in a warm up game today? #IndvsEng”

England will commence their 2023 World Cup campaign with a match against white-ball rivals and 2019 finalists New Zealand in the tournament opener. Their much-awaited meet-up will be played out in Ahmedabad on October 5.

Team India, under Rohit Sharma, will launch their run with a clash against five-time champions Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
