In a massive setback for Paarl Royals, dynamic English batter Jos Buttler is all set to miss the upcoming SA20 season next year. Hailed for his destructive batting, Buttler plays a pivotal role for the Royals in the lucrative tournament. However, he won't participate in the SA20 2025 due to national commitments.

The experienced cricketer hasn't had a great time of late, as he was recently ruled out of The Hundred 2024 due to an injury

Buttler announced his unavailability for the SA20 2025 in a video posted by the Royals on their official Instagram handle.

He expressed his disappointment at missing the competition, saying,

“Hi everyone, Jos Buttler here. This is a message from all Paarl Royals fans. Disappointed that I would not be coming back to the SA20 this year. There are some England games on that’s where all my focus will be there. So yeah, it’s a shame that I won’t be coming back to the tournament."

Buttler withdrew from the SA20 in order to keep himself available for England's much-anticipated India tour in January.

The white-ball leg, comprising five T20Is and three ODIs, holds significant importance for the Three Lions, as it will help them prepare for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year.

Since the inception of the SA20, Buttler has been a vital cog for Paarl Royals. He was their most successful batter last season, amassing 408 runs in 11 innings at an average of 40.80 and a strike rate of 143.66.
