The Indian women’s team batter Jemimah Rodrigues will be a part of Northern Superchargers during the inaugural season of The Hundred tournament which is slated to begin on July 21. Rodrigues would be the fifth Indian woman player after Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma to be a part of the tournament comprising of eight men’s and women’s team.
“I am really looking forward to it (The Hundred). Something new, something different,” Rodrigues told the BBC’s ‘Stumped’ podcast.
“I have played for the Yorkshire Diamonds and my team is the Northern Superchargers. So, I have played a few of them before, Lauren Winfield is our captain,” Rodrigues added.
The batter will be travelling to the UK with the side which scheduled to play the one-off Test against England beginning on June 16 in Bristol. The Test match would be followed by three ODIs and three T20Is.
England’s Lauren Winfield-Hill will be leading the Superchargers team in the tournament and the side has Australian cricketer Alyssa Healy in the ranks.
The Hundred was postponed last year due to the Covid-19 outburst. The first match will be played between the Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals in London.
