It looks like the rumours of Jay Shah being appointed as the next ICC Chairman are indeed true. With the current chairperson, Greg Barclay set to step down from the post, speculations have risen that the BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah is a guaranteed winner for the same post.

Jay Shah gets backing from two powerful cricket boards

Now, as per The Age, the Australian Cricket Board and the England Cricket Board have given their full-backing to Jay Shah and believe he is the right person to lead the chairperson's post for the next 3-years.

In an earlier report, it was mentioned that should Jay Shah stand in the ICC election in December, he would be unanimously appointed as the Chairman. Apart from the BCCI Secretary, if another candidate comes up for the same post, then an election would take place, ensuring a democratic process. However, if no one opposses, then Jay Shah will take command of his new post, effective December 1, 2024.

With two of the most powerful boards (ACB and ECB), apart from BCCI, supporting Jay Shah, it is highly unlikely that he'll get any competition for the post.

His appointment could also affect the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy, with Jay Shah always in demand of a hybrid model for the mega event. However, recently, PCB have once again refute those rumours.
