Jay Shah Creates History As ICC Chairman; Enters Unknown African Nation As Apex Body Head

Jay Shah is the youngest ICC chairman, and is known for innovative work as BCCI president. He is expected to do the same as ICC chairman as well, and has now taken a big step in that direction. Shah has become the first sitting ICC chairman to visit Botswana, an African country, a neighbouring country of Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Jay Shah Takes Centrestage In Bostwana

The 36-year-old first attended ICC meetings in Zimbabwe and then was in Botswana from April 14 to April 16. There were quite a few important agendas of the meeting, and one of it was the development of associate members of the ICC. The ICC chairman who was accompanied by Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman and few other officials, also discussed about the condition of cricket in Bostwana.

The Bostwana Cricket Association (BCA) vice-chairman, Sumod Damodar also thanked Jay Shah for his visit and stated that his presence has created a positive environment around cricket in the country.

"I am personally very grateful to Mr. Shah, for making the visit, in spite of his busy schedule. His brief presence at the BCA Ovals, where he met with the national coach, staff, few players, and some of the affiliates, has left a positive indelible mark in their minds."

Jay Shah also had meetings with the Sports Minister of Bostwana, and plenty of other officials while he also visited wildlife parks in Kasane, in a country known for its natural diversity.
