India's hopes for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 have been bolstered by positive news regarding the fitness of two prominent players Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer. A recent report from The Indian Express suggests that both players are recovering well and may feature in the upcoming T20I series in Ireland.

India's Ireland tour to see return of Bumrah & Iyer

Bumrah, who has been recovering from back surgery since March, is back in full training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru under the supervision of BCCI's head of cricket, VVS Laxman.

The right-arm quick has made a remarkable recovery from a back surgery he underwent in March. Currently in an intensive training regime at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, Bumrah has resumed high-intensity bowling under the guidance of BCCI’s head of cricket, VVS Laxman where he is bowling 8-10 overs per session.

The 29-year-old, initially expected to make a comeback during the Asia Cup in September, may instead return to competitive cricket earlier than anticipated, with the Ireland tour next month emerging as a possible platform. A final decision on his inclusion will be made in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Iyer has also made strides in his recovery from a recurring back issue that required surgery and forced him to miss the recent IPL season. Iyer picked up the injury during the Tests against Australia earlier this year. Now back in the nets, the middle-order batsman is set to join Bumrah on the trip to Ireland which will mark a significant step in his return to competitive cricket.

The return of these two frontline players will undoubtedly provide a significant boost for the Indian team ahead of the World Cup, especially given their lack of competitive cricket in recent months.
