James Anderson likely to miss out on the final Test

England pacer, James Anderson, is likely to be rested for the upcoming third and final Test between England and New Zealand from June 23 at Leeds. The bowler has been suffering from leg discomfort since the final-day morning session of the second Test.

As per a report in the Daily Mail, Anderson could miss the final Test against New Zealand. With a busy summer schedule coming up, a rest here could benefit the player. England are set to play a test match against India next month.

During the second Test of the England & New Zealand series, Anderson was nursing a leg injury which restricted him to just 8.4 overs during the second innings at Trent Bridge, and he missed the first hour of the final morning.

Also, with England having an unassailable 2-0 lead in the Test series against New Zealand, the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have suggested that James Anderson be rested for the final Test of the series. The main reason could be the rearranged and most-awaited test match against India in Birmingham on July 1. The board want their key new-ball pacer to be fresh and ready for the clash against the Men in Blue.

Furthermore, Anderson's new-ball partner, Stuart Broad, could be left out of the third & final Test against the Kiwis in order to reduce his workload.
