Jharkhand’s Ishan Kishan and Mumbai’s Suryakumar Yadav received their maiden India call-ups as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s T20 squad for the five-match series against England.
Both Surya and Ishan had scored above 400 runs in the last year’s IPL and were in contention for an India call up ever since. Along with Surya and Ishan, bowling all-rounder Rahul Tewatia has also got his maiden India call-up.
Gujarat’s Axar Patel and Uttar Pradesh’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has previously played for India, have been recalled into the Team India squad. India’s premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for this series. Sanju Samson and Manish Pandey have lost their place in the squad.
Varun Chakravarthy, who was picked for Team India on the Australia tour, but could not remain part of the team due to injury has been given another chance as he has been named in the squad as well. Rishabh Pant has also made a comeback in the squad.
All the matches of the T20 series will be played at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera.
