India Champions emerged victorious in the inaugural edition of the World Championship of Legends, defeating Pakistan Champions by 5 wickets in the final on Saturday, July 13 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. 

Irfan Pathan sealed the win in style, hitting a boundary off the first ball of the final over, as India avenged their earlier league stage defeat to Pakistan. 

Following the match, Pathan shared a heartfelt moment on camera, kissing his wife, Safa Baig, on her forehead, which garnered much affection from fans.

Pakistan's captain, Younis Khan, won the toss and opted to bat first, but their strategy backfired as they lost wickets regularly. Despite having a strong batting lineup, they struggled under the pressure of the final, managing a score of 156/6. 

Shoaib Malik top-scored with 41 runs, while Anureet Singh was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking 3 wickets for 43 runs in his four overs.

In pursuit of 157, India, led by Yuvraj Singh, went off to a strong start, although Robin Uthappa and Suresh Raina fell early while seeking quick runs during the powerplay. Ambati Rayudu played a pivotal role, forming a crucial partnership with Gurkeerat Mann before departing soon after his half-century. 

Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan then took charge, maintaining their composure and keeping the chase on track. 

Despite Yuvraj's struggles at one end, Yusuf Pathan's aggressive cameo of 30 runs off 16 balls brought India within reach of the target. Irfan Pathan's finishing boundary in the final over ensured India's triumph and a memorable end to the tournament.
