  • Ipl 2022 Skipper Mayank Agarwal Heaps Praise For Arshdeep Calls Him Leader In The Team

IPL 2022 : Skipper Mayank Agarwal heaps praise for Arshdeep, calls him 'leader in the team'

Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal has heaped praise on the 'leader' Arshdeep Singh after their win against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday (May 13).

Arshdeep has been a great asset with his powerplay and death bowling for the Kings, not just this season but the last couple of seasons. Even though his wicket tally won't justify the fact that he has bowled so well this year, the way he has bowled has shown glimpses of what the future holds for the wily left-arm pacer.

In the post-match presentation after the clash against RCB, skipper Agarwal while talking about Arshdeep, said that he's a very energetic and confident person who enjoys his cricket and also hailed him as a leader in the team.

"Very, very energetic person, very confident guy (Arshdeep). Enjoys his cricket. Must say he's the leader in the team. He rallies around everyone, takes up the responsibility, even goes up and speaks to the bowlers sometimes," the PBKS skipper commented.

Punjab have released an interview of Arshdeep where he revealed that the captain comes to him before every ball to ask if everything is fine or not, and that brings a sense of calmness to him.

"Mostly, Mayank Bhai comes to me before every ball to ask if everything is fine or if the field needs to be changed," Arshdeep Singh stated.

"So, I usually talk to him, and I feel calm because of that," added the 23-year-old seamer.

The young left-arm pacer has grown in the Punjab franchise, making his IPL debut in 2019 and scalping 37 wickets at an economy of 8.39 thus far.

In the IPL 2022 thus far, the left-arm pacer has taken seven wickets in 12 matches. His incredible economy rate of 7.69 in the toughest 20 speaks volumes of why the franchise invested in Arshdeep by retaining him pre-auction.
