Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)'s Director of Cricket Operation Mike Hesson has cleared the cloud about the availability of Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Hesson has said that Maxwell will be available for selection from the game against Mumbai Indians on April 9 in Pune.
Australia has already missed a couple of thrilling encounters for RCB. It is rested from the crunch battle against Rajasthan Royals due to Cricket Australia's clause for its contracted players.
Notably, the all-rounder has completed its mandatory three-day quarantine period and joined the camp, but he is not eligible to make his first appearance for RCB until April 6 due to a clause. However, Maxwell was not a part of the Australian squad for the historic series against Pakistan.
In a video shared by the RCB's Twitter page, head coach Hesson said, "It's pretty clear from Cricket Australia's point of view that no contracted players are available before April 6.
"Regardless of when they arrive here, they can't play before April 6. We have been well aware of that as every other side. We have planned for that. Maxi will be with us and available from the 9th."
In the absence of Maxwell, Royal Challengers Bangalore has played the three games so far in the ongoing edition of the lucrative T20 league, registering two wins and one loss. However, the presence of Maxwell will surely provide more balance to the team.
