  • Ipl 2022 Rajat Patidar Replaces Injured Luvnith Sisodia In Rcb Squad

IPL 2022 | Rajat Patidar replaces injured Luvnith Sisodia in RCB squad

There was disappointment in store for the Royal Challengers Bangalore outfit when the team heard that uncapped wicket-keeper batter, Luvnith Sisodia, would be ruled out for the rest of the season to an injury.

Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar will replace him in the squad for the remainder of the season. The RCB signed Sisodia at the 2022 auction as a backup wicket keeping option.

Unfortunately, the youngster had to be ruled out before playing his first game for the franchise. The exact nature of Sisodia's injury is not known.

The 22-year old lacks experience, but the youngster can pack a punch with his aggressive batting, which might have prompted the franchise to sign him. The left-hander has 45 runs in 7 T20 matches with a strike rate of 140.62 and the highest score of 38.

On the other hand, Patidar, who plays for Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket, is a right-handed top-order batsman who also bowls right-arm off-spin. The 28-year old has scored 861 runs in 31 T20s, notching up seven half-centuries with a strike rate of 138.64.

Patidar had earlier played for the franchise in 4 matches last year when he debuted for RCB. He would be joining the team for a price of INR 20 lakh. RCB have so far played two games this season, winning one and losing one. Bangalore's next match is against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai) on 5 April. Patidar has scored 71 runs in four IPL games for RCB, with the highest score of 31 and a strike rate of 114.5.

The right-hander went unsold in this year's auction but now has a significant opportunity to showcase his talent. Patidar would be a valuable addition as he can make a big difference with his aggressive batting at the top.
