IPL 2022 | No handshakes allowed in DC-RCB fixture

In the recent development, it has come to light that the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a circular to the Delhi Capitals (DC), stating the preventive measures to be followed in today's clash against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

With the physiotherapist of DC, Patrick Farhat, testing positive for COVID-19 on Friday, the team has been advised not to shake hands with the RCB players. Further, the support staff members have been requested to wear face masks during the match.

As it has become a norm for the players to share chats after the game ends, the BCCI has also considered this. As a result, the players from both camps have been instructed to follow social distancing and adopt the use of masks.

"The BCCI has issued a circular to the Delhi team requesting them to not shake hands and hug players from RCB after the game. The players from teams usually congregate for a chat after games before they disperse.

The Delhi players have been advised to maintain social distancing during chats, and masks have been recommended. The non-playing team members who will watch the game from the stands have been requested to wear their face masks throughout the game, except for eating or drinking," Indian Express reported.

After the positive report of Patrick came yesterday, the DC players and support staff went through a round of testing. Fortunately, no more positive cases within the camp have been found.

As per the rules, those who test positive will have to undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine period and return three negative results before joining the team.
