IPL 2022: MI vs PBKS - Fantasy Tips

Mumbai Indians (MI) will be facing Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Mumbai will be looking to win their first match in their tournament, while the Kings would look to return to winning after losing their match to Gujarat, courtesy of an unreal effort by Rahul Tewatia. Therefore, before the match begins, let us pick up some fantasy tips for the match.

Untamed: These players will be the highest point fetchers on most of the days.

Suryakumar Yadav: SKY, as they call him, wasn't there for the first two matches of the tournament owing to an injury, but he has returned to the league with a bang. Since then, he has become the mainstay of the MI middle order.

In IPL 2022, Yadav has batted in two innings and has scored 120 runs in them at a strike of 164.38 and RPI of 60. He is looking in great touch and the team will hope that he continues with his form giving valuable contributions in the middle order.

Expectations: In the last two matches, Yadav has scored 186 fantasy points at an average of 93 points per game. It can be expected that he will give some valuable points to those who pick him. The current red-hot form that he is in makes him a must-pick for the match.

Ishan Kishan: Kishan has given some solid starts to MI in IPL 2022. He looked in great form in the first two matches of the season. But in the last two matches, he has failed to convert his starts into big ones. So the team will be hoping that he regains his form soon and goes big in the next match.

IPL 2022: Ishan Kishan has scored 175 runs in 4 matches at an SR of 125.00, and his RPI is 43.75. He went big in the first two matches, but he looked in touch in the following matches where he got starts.

Expectations: The explosive batter has given 257 points in the tournament. His average return for the tournament is 64.25, but out of the 257 points, 207 have come in the first two matches. Though he's a bit out of touch, his ability to score quickly makes him a must-pick for the match.

Liam Livingstone: The Englishman has made himself an indispensable part of the PBKS team in IPL 2022. Let us look at his performance in the tournament so far.

IPL 2022: In 4 matches, Livingstone scored 162 runs at a strike rate of 190.59. In the matches in which he has got going, he has changed the match's momentum single-handedly. Punjab will hope that Livingstone continues with his brilliant exploits and gives them some powerful finishes.

Expectations: Livingstone has given 315 points in the tournament so far. In the last two matches, he has returned 256 points which are evidence of his great form. His excellent batting form and his ability to ball make him an essential pick for the match.

Shilly Shally: These are players whose forms keep fluctuating; hence expecting good returns from them every day can be risky.

Kieron Pollard: Kieron Pollard has been the X-Factor of the MI team. They depend on the powerful West Indian for strong finishes, but he has not yet fired big so far in the tournament.

In this edition, Pollard has so far scored 47 runs at an RPI of 11.75. This shows that the big man is struggling with his form. But in the last match for MI, he scored 22 off just four deliveries showing glimpses of the havoc he can wreak on his day.

His IPL career strike rate of 149.46 is proof that he can turn out to be the match-winner on any given day. However, his current inconsistent form makes him a risky pick for the day.

Shahrukh Khan: SRK has been entrusted with finishing matches for the PBKS team. But so far, he has not been able to prove his mettle in the tournament.

Overall record: Khan's IPL strike rate is 125.32. However, in the domestic T20 arena, his strike rate is an impressive 133.0, and along with this, there is his reputation of being a big hitter.

IPL 2022: Shahrukh has just scored 45 runs from 44 deliveries he has faced in 4 innings. His strike rate is just 102.27, and his RPI is 11.25. His lack of form in the tournament till now makes him very risky for the match.

Rohit Sharma: MI depends on their captain's batting to put up formidable totals on the board. However, Sharma has not been able to deliver the strong start that the team expects of him.

IPL 2022: Rohit scored a mere 80 runs in the tournament in four innings. His RPI is just 20, and looking thoroughly out of touch. But the class he possesses makes him someone who cannot be ignored easily. So, his lack of form makes him a risky pick for the match, but one cannot ignore him completely.

Unhailed: They are players one needs to back as they will eat up fewer credit points but give consistent returns.

Shikhar Dhawan: Punjab depends largely on Dhawan for some solid starts in their batting efforts. In 196 IPL matches, Dhawan has scored 5910 runs at a strike rate of 126.59. His RPI in the history of the tournament is 30.30. This is evidence of Dhawan's consistency in the tournament.

In IPL 2022, Dhawan has scored 127 runs at a strike rate of 129.59 and an RPI of 31.75. He has returned 46.75 points per game in the tournament. This shows that a steady return can be expected from him.

Rahul Chahar: Chahar is the excellent option for Punjab to take wickets and put brakes on the opposition batting lineup in the middle overs. He has been contributing significantly to the team's bowling efforts.

IPL 2022: In four matches in IPL 2022 till now, Chahar has bowled 16 overs conceding 101 runs in them and picking up 7 wickets. He is picking a wicket in every 13 deliveries so far. This ensures he picks up at least a wicket in his quota of 4 overs.

He has been giving 45.66 points on average this season. But in a batter-dominated game, his contributions are not well-spoken off, so he is someone who will ensure some precious points and hence is a safe pick for the match.

Jasprit Bumrah is often known as the man-with-the-ball for the Paltan, and he is the best bowler in the MI bowling lineup. However, he has not been on song in IPL 2022 so far.

In IPL 2022, Bumrah has bowled 14 overs and has conceded 117 runs in them. He has just picked up 3 wickets in the tournament. He is taking 39 deliveries to pick up one wicket.

While in general, in IPL, he picks up a wicket every 18 deliveries. The stats show that the MI spearhead is out of form. However, a bowler like Bumrah's class cannot be doubted, but his lack of structure keeps him in the unhailed category for the match.

Stealthy Warriors: These players are not so common names in the IPL. Hence picking them might give one an advantage over their competitors.

Dewald Brevis: Baby AB, as he's sealed, has impressed everybody with his short stints in the batting crease till now. He is still to fire giant in the tournament but has proved that he is talented enough to turn the table on any given day. So he can be an essential pick for the match.

Tilak Varma: Varma has been very impressive from his first appearance in the tournament. He has shown great composure and maturity for a youngster.

IPL 2022: Varma has scored 121 runs off 78 deliveries at a brilliant SR of 155.13, while his average is 40.33. His average return per game for the tournament is 54.5. Thus, he ensures pretty healthy returns for a player relatively unexplored in the IPL arena.

Jonny Bairstow: Bairstow did not get the right start to the tournament. He scored just 8 runs in his first appearance of the tournament. However, in IPL, he averages more than 40. Thus a good return of points can be expected of him. As he has not played much in the tournament so far, he is in the 'Stealthy Warriors' category.

Imposters: Players who are currently not at their best and are expected to give negative points.

Mayank Agarwal: The skipper of the Punjab team is looking entirely out of form in the tournament. He has just scored 42 runs at a strike rate of 105 and an RPI of 10.5. His presence is not benefitting his own team and might result in negative points for the ones who pick him.

Odean Smith: After his brilliant batting exploits in the first match, Smith looked very ordinary with the bat and the bowl. He scored 25 runs in the first match, barring that his total score in the tournament is 12 at an RPI of 4. However, he is conceding runs at 12.73 runs per over economy, so it is better to stay away from him.
