It is no secret that defending Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are having a shambolic time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Injury to key players, issues with leadership, and key players not in form, the franchise is witnessing everything. With only three matches left in the IPL, reports say that Ravindra Jadeja is to miss the team bus after being unable to recover from an injury.
Jadeja suffered an upper-body injury while fielding during Chennai's match against Delhi Capitals, in which they won by a convincing margin. According to the Times of India (TOI), Jadeja's recovery is not as expected, and the management is unwilling to take any further risks. Ahead of the season, Jadeja replaced Mahendra Singh Dhoni as CSK skipper.
Jadeja eventually relinquished the captains' hat to Dhoni after just two wins from eight games. Jadeja stated that he wanted to focus on his performance and hence was stepping down. He has thus far managed 112 runs and picked five wickets across ten games this season.
With Dhoni back at the helm of affairs, CSK have won 2 out of their last three games and are on 8 points in the table. Chennai has a slim chance of qualifying but will have its hopes pinned on other franchise results.
Most importantly, if Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals notch even one win, CSK's campaign is done and dusted.
With the ICC T20 World Cup just months away, India must have Jadeja in the peak of his health and form.
