IPL 2022 | Chahal's mindset and attitude have made him world-class: Lalchand Rajput

Among the spinners who have woven their magic in this year's IPL, Yuzvendra Chahal's name tops the chart. The experienced Indian leg spinner has been phenomenal in the tournament. He currently occupies the top spot in the list of highest wicket-takers with 18 wickets from 7 games at a brilliant average of 11.33. Also, he has five dismissals to his name at an economy of 7 in the slog overs, thereby relieving the stress of the Rajasthan Royals to a great extent in the most challenging bowling phase.

Such an impressive performance by Chahal has earned him heaps of praise from the former Indian international Lalchand Rajput. Rajput, who had served the Indian team as a coach, has opined that Chahal seems extremely confident from the way he approaches the crease before delivering the ball.

The ex-Indian cricketer said that the tweaker from Haryana seems vowed to prove his worth in the shortest format of the game, and his determination is clearly visible from his body language. Rajput also stressed that Chahal's mindset and attitude are responsible for converting him from a good bowler to a world-class one.

"The most important thing for a bowler is his body language, which gets better when your confidence is high. The way he runs before going to bowl tells how much confidence he has," Rajput said. "The graph has certainly improved for Chahal, and he wants to show the world if I was bowling well and why I was left out.

This is the time he wants to show with his consistent performances that I am still the wrist spinner who can bowl in the powerplay and death overs. His mindset and attitude are making a good bowler into a world-class bowler," he concluded.

Continuing his glorious form with the ball, Chahal picked the vital wicket of Axar Patel in a crucial juncture in RR's most recent game against Delhi Capitals. But, more importantly, he conceded just 28 runs in his four overs on a pitch that witnessed more than 200 runs being scored from both sides.

With the 15-run victory over DC, RR has leapfrogged GT to reach the top spot in the points table and will lock horns with RCB on Tuesday (26 April) in their next game in Pune.
