As per the latest developments, the Delhi Capitals camp has been hit by the COVID-19 threat, with another player testing positive on Wednesday ahead of the clash against Punjab Kings.
As per the reports of The Indian Express, a Rapid Antigen Test was conducted on Wednesday ahead of the match against Punjab Kings in the evening, which saw New Zealand wicket-keeper batter, Tim Seifert, returning positive for Covid-19.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals player Mitchell Marsh tested positive for Covid-19 and was hospitalised. A few more staff members from the Delhi bio bubble who tested positive but were asymptomatic were asked to isolate themselves and join the team only after returning negative.
Players and other team members were also asked to undergo quarantine in their rooms, wherein door-to-door COVID tests were scheduled.
Following the testing on Wednesday evening, the players who return negative will be allowed to play the match, while the rest of the team and support staff will be tested later.
Notably, Delhi Capitals' upcoming match against Punjab Kings on Wednesday has been shifted from Pune to Mumbai following the covid scare in DC's camp, and the match will now be played at the Brabourne Stadium. The Board of Control took the decision for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday.
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday announced a change of venue for Match No. 32 Delhi Capital versus Punjab Kings from MCA Stadium, Pune to Brabourne CCI scheduled on April 20th, 2022, to avoid any further incident due to an undetected case during a long-distance bus journey in a closed environment," said the BCCI in a statement.
The other members of the Delhi Capitals contingent on testing positive for Covid-19 include team physio Patrick Farhart, sports massage therapist Chetan Kumar, team doctor Abhijit Salvi and social media content team member Akash Mane.
