The Sunrisers Hyderabad have roped in Jammu and Kashmir pacer Umran Malik as a short-term replacement for T Natarajan, who has been found Covid-19 positive in UAE. He will be in the SRH camp till the left-armer doesn’t recover from Covid and re-enter the team biosecure bubble.
Malik will be third player from Jammu and Kashmir to play in the Indian Premier League after Parvez Rasool and Abdul Samad.
Natarajan was found Covid-19 positive before the Sunriser’s first game in the second phase of IPL 2021 against the Delhi Capitals.
Malik is an inexperienced player even in the domestic circuit and his only T20 game for Jammu and Kashmir came earlier this year against Bengal where he picked up three wickets.
Natarajan’s injury has come as a massive setback for the Sunriers who are alrrady reeling with an inconsistent and out of form batting line up. They are positoned last on the points table winning just one out of the eight games played this season.
