Batsman Shreyas Iyer has joined the Delhi Capitals camp in UAE before the second part of the Indian Premier League. He had missed the first half of the IPL in India after injuring his shoulder during the ODI series against England prior to the IPL.
"I am feeling on top of the world, to be honest," Iyer said according to a report in ESPNCricinfo.
"This was the thing I was eagerly waiting for. It's never a bad feeling to be among the team. I came six days prior to the start of the practice sessions for the team, and I had two good games against the UAE team, so I just want to continue with the same momentum.”
The right-handed batsman had also missed featuring in the Royal London Cup for Lancashire.
Iyer talked about the time when he was out of action due to injury.
"The feeling was very difficult to sit out and see my teammates play. I was sitting in front of the TV, watching each and every game,” he said.
The IPL was earlier suspended on May 4 after there was a Covid-19 outbreak within the franchises. The tournament will resume on September 19 in the UAE when Mumbai Indians take on Chennai Super Kings.
Delhi Capitals who ended as the runners up in the last edition that was also held in UAE were placed at the top of the points table with six wins in 8 matches. They will now resume the competition against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 22 in Dubai.
