Not so long ago Pat Cummins, playing for Australia, was running giving all he had in him to dismiss Shubman Gill, who was playing for India. But two months from their last meeting at the Gabba in January, they have joined the Kolkata Knight Rides camp and there is no loss of bonhomie between them ahead of the 14th edition of the IPL starting tomorrow.
Cummins commended Gill for ‘some good contests’ in the last series between India and Australia which India won 2-1. He said that Gill is young and has a mindset of taking the game by the scruff of the neck and not too seriously. Hence, he has been enjoying his time with the young batsman from Punjab.
“I get along really well with Shubman. It was a great debut for him last summer in Australia. We had some good contests out in the field. I really feel happy for him, he had a great start to his Test career. He’s good, he’s young. He wants to take the game on and is really relaxed. He doesn’t take cricket or life too seriously. So it’s good fun to be with him,” Cummins said in an Instagram live arranged by the KKR franchise.
Cummins has come to India to play in the IPL from Australia where he has been playing the four-day and One-day games. He was an instrumental figure in the bowling department when India toured Australia earlier this year. However, Gill went on to play a superlative knock of 91 to guide India to a historic series win in Australia.
