Three members of the Chennai Super Kings including the likes of CEO Kasi Viswanathan and bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. This news comes after the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore was postponed earlier on Monday, 3 May.
With CSK’s bio bubble failure, defences of both the current venues have been breached by the virus and a sense of panic has ensued in the cricket world.
Other reports have suggested that five DDCA ground staff members have also returned positive for Covid-19. However they were not a part of the match played between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Sunday, 2 May.
ESPNCricinfo reported that the rest of the Chennai team has returned with negative results and the situation is being monitored by the BCCI.
The three members of the CSK bubble will now be quarantining separately and will have to return two negative tests after the 10th day to get back into the bubble once again.
This is a developing story.
