The Delhi and Districts Cricket Association, the governing body of cricket in the national capital has said that the matches scheduled for the Indian Premier League in the city would go as planned even as the citizens reel under the threat of exploding covid-19 environment.
"It is on schedule. The bubble is absolutely intact. If I am not part of the bubble, I can't meet anybody [inside it]. It is absolutely safe," DDCA President Rohan Jaitley was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
"There is a health and safety protocol that is already in place where teams move around in bubbles, they stay in bubbles, practice happens in a bubble, and any and every person who comes in contact is part of the bubble. There is no one who is outside the bubble," Rohan added even as Delhi recorded 348 fresh Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The Delhi leg of the IPL is scheduled to take place from April 28 to May 8 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Four teams including Mumbai Indians, the Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals will face each other up in eight games.
