IPL 2020 | RR vs SRH: Match Preview, Predicted XI & Dream11 Fantasy Picks

Two teams playing for their survival in the league, playing to challenge the top four in the points table, playing to prove that the superstars they are carrying in their team are worth it will clash in a bottom of the table clash on Thursday, 22 October in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. The two teams are coming on the back of two different sets of games, one losing in the super over to Kolkata Knight Riders and the other winning, but against the last-placed team in the table - Chennai Super Kings.

However, the last time these two teams met, it resulted in one of the most memorable run chases, where two uncapped Indians of Rajasthan Royals pipped Hyderabad registered an incredible comeback. The fans would be expecting a lot of intensity in this game as well, where the Sunrisers would look to exact the revenge.

The English Trio of Rajasthan

Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Jos Buttler would hold the key to Rajasthan’s progress in the tournament. The three matches that the team won prior to the last one against CSK, came courtesy Sanju Samson and Rahul Tewatia, the two Indian youngsters. While Samson has faded away progressively, Jos Buttler showed in the last game that if in form, he can win matches singlehandedly. Jofra Archer has been good throughout the tournament with the ball and handy enough with the bat as well.

It is the cumulative impact that the trio could have, needs to be cashed in by the Royals if they want to progress further in the tournament.

Hyderabad need to clean the mess

Since the Bhuvneshwar Kumar injury, Sunrisers really haven’t been able to fill in an eleven that is complete in all sense. For example, trying Basil Thampi by removing Khaleel Ahmed and Sandeep Sharma was something that was beyond explanation. Not persisting with a stable eleven is something that has hurt a lot of teams in the tournament so far, and SRH is one of them.

Before the start of the next game, the team needs to find the balance and then persist with it at least for the next couple of games to search for results.

Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad: Match Details

Match Number- 40

Date: 22nd October 2020, at 7:30 PM IST, 06:00 PM Local, 2.00 PM IST

Venue: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai

Broadcast: Star Sports and Hotstar

Pitch Report

The pitch in Dubai has been a lot two-paced at the start of the innings in the last few matches and as a result of it, the teams are looking to chase first. The two paced attitude is helping the spinners in the first innings and also the pacers because at the start there is generally seen some movement with the ball as well.

Weather and Toss

The weather has been fantastic throughout the tournament in Dubai. Initially, the humidity was high, but with winters coming, it has reduced and dew has taken its place. There are no chances of rain, making it an ideal condition for playing cricket. With dew and pitch being two-paced at the start, any team winning the toss would look to bowl first.

Team News

Rajasthan Royals

The Royals have now averted all kinds of injuries and are in full strength with everyone available to play. Without experimenting too much, the team would like to go with the same eleven to try and win another game.

Expected XI

Robin Uthappa, Ben Stokes, Sanju Samson (wk), Steven Smith (c), Jos Buttler, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Ankit Rajpoot, Kartik Tyagi

Sunrisers Hyderabad

For Sunrisers to experiment with the team, they can bring in Mohammad Nabi as a finisher, but for that to happen, either Jonny Bairstow or Kane Williamson need to go out and that proposition seems highly unlikely. In such a scenario, the changes can only be initiated in the Indian set up. The most evident change looks like Khaleel Ahmed coming in for Basil Thampi.

Expected XI

David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Vijay Shankar, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan, Khaleel Ahmed

Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad: Dream11 team and suggestions

David Warner (c), Jos Buttler (vc), Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Jofra Archer, Khaleel Ahmed

Captain: David Warner

Vice-Captain:  Jos Buttler

IPL 2020 | KXIP vs DC: Hits and Flops as Shikhar Dhawan’s historic hundred goes in vain

It’s not often that a player from one team hits a hundred and the team could manage to score only 164 runs in its 20 overs. However, playing for Delhi Capitals, Shikhar Dhawan scored a brilliant 106* off just 61 balls, but his team ended up scoring only 164 off their 20 overs, giving the opposition Kings Xi Punjab, a comparatively easier total to chase and they grabbed the opportunity with both hands. The Punjabis didn’t mess this one and beat the table-toppers Capitals by five wickets in Dubai with one over to spare. While Shikhar Dhawan was the hero of the game for Delhi, the men who brought victory to the Punjab camp included the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Glenn Maxwell. There were a lot of failures on Delhi’s end although, for Punjab too, quite a few senior pros failed to adapt to conditions. On that note, here is the list of players that made it to the Hits and Flops of the game. Hits #1 Shikhar Dhawan While wickets kept falling at one end, it was Dhawan who held his fort to get Delhi to the target that was above par. If you minus the 106 of Dhawan’s from Delhi’s total of 164, what’s left is a dismal show of batting from the rest of his teammates. It was a historic moment for Dhawan when he hit the hundred as he became the first player in IPL’s history to have hit back to back hundreds. Although his team lost quite comprehensively, just for sheer brilliance, Dhawan was awarded the Man of the Match for that game. In his knock of 106, Dhawan hit 12 fours and three sixes, scoring at a strike rate of 173.77 #2 Nicholas Pooran When the big guns like KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and even Chris Gayle were back in the hut by the end of the sixth over, it was hard to believe that Kings XI would actually go on to clinch the match, especially after the kind of goof ups they have had throughout the tournament. But Caribbean Nicholas Pooran said enough is enough as he took the opposition bowlers the cleaners shifting the entire pressure back on the fielding team. His counter-attacking innings of 55 from 28 balls at a strike rate of more than 189 was the impetus that was required for even an out of form Maxwell to feel that he belonged to the ground as the pair put on a match-winning partnership of 69 runs off just 40 balls. The only thing faulty in Pooran’s inning was him throwing away his wicket instead of finishing the game. #3 Glenn Maxwell Having failed in the last nine matches, whispers of taking Maxwell out of the team had now become a loud noise. But the Aussie took this opportunity in the 10th game to silence those noises at least for the next game. Maxwell scored a well compiled 32 off 28 balls which was according to the demand of the situation. Not only that he also bowled a full quota of four overs and took a wicket of Rishabh Pant as well, giving just 31 runs. Flops #1 Rishabh Pant Coming back from injury, Pant was looked rusty while batting as he could score only 14 runs off 20 balls, slowing down the progress of the game for the Capitals, above that, he gave his wicket to a part-timer Maxwell. Pant’s wicket-keeping has been under scrutiny as well, and in this game too, he remained under scanner as he missed a golden opportunity to run out Nicholas Pooran very early in the Punjab innings. However, this wasn’t the first time that Pant has had such a torrid outing. In the seven matches that he has played in the tournament so far, Pant hasn’t been able to go past 40 in any of them. #2 Prithvi Shaw Having started the IPL season on a promising note, Shaw seems to be getting alienated as he has now missed three opportunities in a row. Having had two ducks and a one-digit score in his last three outings, Shaw once again failed as he got out of 7 from 11 balls off Jimmy Neesham’s bowling. But that is not the only problem, apart from failing as a batsman, Shaw seems to be having some problems in the field as well. Yesterday too, Shaw couldn’t save a few boundaries in the outfield as well. While the Delhi team as per their captain would take this game as a wake-up call and try and sort things out before they head in for the playoffs, Punjab would take this as an opportunity to eye one of the spots in the Playoffs.
