Superstar of Indian Women's team and captain of RCB-W Smriti Mandhana was awarded the Sportswoman of the year in the category of team sports at the fifth edition of Indian Sports Honours. Mandhana, who led RCB-W to the WPL title in 2024, won this award for the second time.

The fifth edition of the prestigious Indian Sports Honours took place on November 9, 2024 in Mumbai, bringing together the nation’s most celebrated athletes and personalities. India's most celebrated cricketers and personalities were in attendance. Organised by Cornerstone Sport, the event aimed to welcome India's achievements in sports at the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and other highly revered sporting events.

Smriti Mandhana wins big at Indian Sports Honours

The evening of excellence saw Smriti Mandhana named Sportswoman of the Year in Team Sports for some outstanding performances with the bat and as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB-W) captain in the WPL. It is the second time Mandhana receives this award, having first taken it home in 2019.

Mandhana’s 2024 performances showcased her consistency, strategic brilliance, and leadership qualities. Whether wearing the Indian jersey or leading her WPL team, she was an undisputed performer under pressure.

Reflecting on the honour, Mandhana said she was proud to receive the award for not only her achievements on the field but also for the inspiration the silverware brought to other women in sports.

“Extremely happy and proud not just for being bestowed with this honour but for what it stands for. I hope this inspires all the women out there to reach new heights and make us proud," she said.

KKR Named Club Of The Year

Besides Smriti Mandhana, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was awarded the Club of the Year award for their title winning campaign in IPL 2024. KKR, under Gautam Gambhir’s mentorship and Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, beat SRH by 8 wickets in a one-sided final to lift their 3rd IPL title. Hence, to celebrate their extraordinary campaign, Indian Sports Honours awarded KKR with Club of the Year trophy.
