U19 World Cup winning off spinner Vicky Ostwal has been put on the watchlist for suspect bowling action for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Ostwal was pivotal to India’s campaign in the Caribbean shores and largely controlled the rate of scoring himself along with other spinners in the first XI. He managed to pick 12 wickets in the tournament well ahead of the rest of the spinners in the team and was ranked at #7 in the list of players with most wickets.
Ostwal’s struggles are not new as he has been called for suspect action in the Indian junior circuit several times but was cleared by the Sri Ramchandra Institute of Higher Education and Research - an ICC affiliated academy that deals with biomechanical issues and corrects suspect action.
There are a few players in the U19 team that could get picked by the IPL teams this season and Ostwal is one of the names that could stay in the radar. But if found chucking, Ostwal could be banned from bowling till he corrects his action.
