India Women's ODI & T20I squad announced for tour of Sri Lanka

The Indian women's cricket team will tour Sri Lanka for a three-Match T20I series and as many ODIs, slated to start from June 23 in Dambulla. It will be the first international assignment for India Women since the 2022 Women's World Cup.

Meanwhile, the All-India Women's Selection Committee on Wednesday (June 8) announced the squads for the series. With legendary cricketer Mithali Raj announcing her retirement from all forms of cricket on the same day, Harmanpreet Kaur has been appointed as the new ODI captain of team India. The stylish batter Smriti Mandhana will act as a deputy to Kaur in both formats.

The senior pacer Jhulan Goswami has not been named in either squad. Another notable absentee from the squad is Sneh Rana, who didn't find a slot in both the squads, while top-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues and Radha Yadav have been dropped from the 50-overs format.

The ace all-rounder Deepti Sharma, leg-spinner Poonam Yadav and left-armer Rajeshwari Gayakwad have been included in both the squads. Wicketkeeper-batter Taniya Bhatia and Harleen Deol, on the other hand, have been slotted in for the ODIs and left out for the T20Is.
