India lacked aggression, missed a spinner at Edgbaston: Kiran More

Many missed tactics are being floated in the air by experts in India's seven-wicket loss to England at Edgbaston, where the hosts chased down 378 runs in the fourth innings to level the Pataudi Trophy 2-2.

Former Indian wicketkeeper and selector Kiran More, has highlighted two significant factors contributing to Team India's humiliating defeat.

Firstly, More pinned the blame on the Indian batters, who could not capitalise on their sizeable lead over England while batting for the second time on Days 3 and 4.

Speaking to Jagran TV, More said, "I feel they (England) made a strong comeback in the second innings. Restricting the Indian batters in the third innings and chasing 378 runs in the fourth is huge. This is commendable. India team, however, didn't show aggression in the third innings. If India had scored 300 runs in their second innings, then it could have been different."

England, who registered their highest-ever Test chase, also denied India a chance to claim a series win in English conditions since 2007, when Rahul Dravid-led XI won the series 1-0.

India could have gone with another spinner: More

He further lashed out at India's bowling unit, which couldn't do anything against Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow, who snitched a 269-run stand guiding their side to victory.

"I feel India didn't do enough to stop the run flow. Jadeja should have bowled more… In my opinion, India could have gone with another spinner. Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, and even Shardul are match-winners, but India was missing another spinner," added the 59-year-old.

Ben Stokes has been brilliant: More

The keeper-batsman also praised England's approach in the Test and credited its bowlers than the batters for this win.

"Ben Stokes has been brilliant as a captain. Under him, the English side whitewashed New Zealand. Now I feel they are playing positively, which is helping them,"

"India also did play well. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja batted wonderfully to help India score 416 runs in the first innings. The Indian bowlers also did well by restricting the English side in their first innings. But I will give more credits to English bowlers," he concluded.
