India thoroughly dominated the Sri Lankan bowling attack in the first T20I of the series in Lucknow after posting 199/2 in 20 overs, courtesy an exceptional batting display from Ishan Kishan and a late surge from Shreyas Iyer.
Ishan struggled a bit in the earlier stage of the game but showed his class with the bat once he got his eye in. The left-handed batter along with captain Rohit Sharma put up a partnership of 111 runs for the first wicket.
Sharma was then cleaned up by Lahiru Kumara for a 32-ball 44 but Kishan’s onslaught continued. The left-handed batsman went on to score 89 in just 56 deliveries.
During the course of the innings, Rohit also became the highest run-getter in T20Is as he crossed the 3300-run mark.
Later, Shreyas Iyer took the onus on himself and pushed the paddle in the final overs of the innings to help the side put up a massive total. Iyer remained unbeaten at 57 off 28.
