  • Impossible To Overlook Him Now Sarfaraz Khan Likely To Receive India Call Up For Bangladesh Series

'Impossible to overlook him now' - Sarfaraz Khan likely to receive India call-up for Bangladesh series

Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan has been exceptional in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2021-22. The right-hander, who registered his fourth ton of the season on Day two of the final between Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh, is in line to receive his maiden India call-up.

Sarfaraz has already notched up 936 runs with four centuries and two half-centuries and is the leading run-getter ahead of second-placed Chetan Bist, who has 623 runs for Nagaland.

Considering his performances, it was always likely that Sarfaraz would soon be in the reckoning to represent his country. However, according to a report in PTI, an unnamed BCCI source has confirmed that Khan could find a place in the Indian Test squad for their upcoming Bangladesh series later this year.

"It's impossible to overlook him now. His performances are speaking about his huge ability and putting pressure on many in the Indian team. He will be a certainty when the selectors pick the Indian team for the Bangladesh Test series. He did well for India A last year in South Arica and he's an excellent fielder," he said.

Sarfaraz, who scored 134 runs in Mumbai's first innings against MP in Bangalore on the second day of the match, believes it was his best-ever knock.

"This is my best ever knock in Ranji Trophy as this is the final and it came when the team was in a troublesome situation. We were losing wickets at regular intervals. My aim was that whatever happens, I will not throw my wicket away even if it means I will have to play 300 balls. The more balls I play, the bigger my knocks will be," the 24-year-old said.

Khan was recently seen talking with national selector Sunil Joshi.

"It was good talking to Sunil Joshi sir. He understood that Chandu sir (Chandrakant Pandit) had asked his bowlers to block my sweep shot and he said that it was good that I could rotate strike even when my pet shot was stopped," the Delhi Capitals player concluded.
