  • If He Needs To Learn Anything He Can Ring Up Ms Dhoni Or Talk To Rahul Dravid Former Australian Opinions On Pants Captaincy

'If he needs to learn anything, he can ring up MS Dhoni or talk to Rahul Dravid' - Former Australian opinions on Pant's captaincy

Former Australian player Brad Hogg has suggested Rishabh Pant to take tips from MS Dhoni or Rahul Dravid and be more decisive on the field while leading the team.

Pant was made the stand-in captain of the Indian team ahead of the five-match T20I series against South Africa at home after injured KL Rahul was ruled out of the entire series.

Under his captaincy, the Men in Blue lost the first two T20Is of the series before winning the third match at Visakhapatnam. However, the 24-year-old and his style of captaincy have been criticized by many around the globe.

Through his social media handle, the former Australian spinner asked India's current stand-in skipper to take the matter into his own hands without getting influenced by other players.

"Pant is the captain right now. One thing that he needs to do is be more decisive and take control in the middle. Don't let other players come in and over-influence his decision. If he needs to learn anything, he can ring up MS Dhoni or talk to Rahul Dravid. Get your tips, go out, back yourself, and do the job," said Brad Hogg in an Instagram video.

India lost seven games on the bounce this year against South Africa. The ex-left arm wrist spinner also pointed out that Rohit Sharma has got all his success while leading the Indian team on the home turf and his leadership skills are still untested away from home in overseas conditions.

"Captaincy is always a discussion in India, especially when they are losing," Hogg cited.

He further added, "Rohit Sharma has got a perfect record in 2022. He's won 11 games from 11. (But) when someone else has captained India, it's seven games, seven losses.

"Remember, Rohit Sharma has not captained away from India this year. So, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves," the former cricketer commented.

"Let's wait till he gets on foreign soil and see how he handles the pressure then," Hogg concluded.
