  • I Would Love To Bowl At Virat Again Anderson Hints Toward His Retirement Plans

'I would love to bowl at Virat again,' Anderson hints toward his retirement plans

The England seamer James Anderson’s battle with former Indian captain Virat Kohli is one of the most cherished things in the cricket fraternity. The fans often go berserk to see the two legends lock horns with each other, especially in the longest format of the game.

In his international career of over a decade, Kohli has dominated many bowlers all over the world. He has been successful in scripting his name in the history books as one of the best Indian batters after Sachin Tendulkar. However, Anderson is one such pacer who has troubled the batting maestro time and again.

Anderson to announce his retirement soon?

The two veterans last played against each other during the fifth rescheduled Test match at Edgbaston earlier this month. The game saw Anderson picking in six wickets across two innings. However, the 39-year-old failed in getting the prized wicket of Kohli.

The speculations are rife that the Edgbaston Test was the last time that Anderson and Kohli met each other on the cricket field. As the Englishman has been in and out of the England Test cricket team, and is expected to announce his retirement before India’s next tour to England.

The seamer is hoping for one more encounter with Kohli

However, Anderson, who has dismissed Kohli seven times in Test cricket, has dropped a major hint regarding his international cricket career. The 39-year-old spoke highly of his battle with Kohli while stating that he would like to bowl against him again.

"Well, I do not know. I would love to bowl at Virat again. So, maybe I will stick around for the next tour," Anderson said while speaking on Sony Sports Network's 'Extra Innings'.

India are likely to play against England in a home Test series in 2024, their next Test tour of England will not be scheduled before 2025.

Meanwhile, there is a threat looming over Kohli as well. The 33-year-old will now be taking a break from cricket as he has been rested for the West Indies tour. Kohli is expected to return back to the team for the Aisa Cup.
