  • I Hope That In The Future Ill Get Another Go In The T20 Cricket Tammy Beaumont Reacts To Cwg 2022 Snub

'I hope that in the future I'll get another go in the T20 cricket' – Tammy Beaumont reacts to CWG 2022 snub

England claimed a 3-0 whitewash against South Africa with a 109-run win in the third ODI in Leicester. England’s opening batter, Tammy Beaumont’s terrific knock of 119 off 107 helped England post 371-7, their 5th Highest total in Women’s ODIs.

However, the 31-year-old batter, Beaumont has been axed from England’s T20I squad for the Commonwealth Games, and the three-match T20I series against Momentum Proteas starting from Thursday.

Despite missing out on a landmark tournament, Beaumont has remained consistent in the recent ODI series, scoring 178 runs, and proving what she is capable of.

“I was obviously pretty gutted about a week ago when I found out but it was just a case of trying to find a way to get myself in the best headspace to play the last couple of games. I guess it is what it is. I hope that in the future I'll get another go in T20 cricket," Beaumont said.

Tammy Beaumont’s recent T20 format performances

The opening batter has been a cornerstone of England’s batting line-up for quite a long time. After a successful 2017 World Cup campaign, when she was the highest run-scorer for England, Beaumont has anchored her position as the opener in the longer format.

However, in the shorter format, Beaumont has struggled to remain consistent. Her career strike rate is 108.37. Not getting many opportunities to play international T20 cricket this year, Beaumont has just scored 36 runs in the two matches she played. In the recent domestic T20 tournament, the Charlotte Edwards cup, Beaumont’s performance was not prolific as she scored 136 runs in four innings. That justifies her exit from the squad.

Lisa Keightley, England’s head coach said, "Obviously Tammy's an amazing playerShe's performed really well over a long period of time and I suppose the challenge is out to Tam to go away and work on things that we've been working on and show us why she should be in the squad. I'm sure she'll bounce back and that's what we want, really. We want pressure on and players getting better in every format."

Keightley also added that Tammy’s records are terrific in the longer format. However, in the T20 format, there is still some room for growth and improvement which Beaumont has to focus on.

The Hundred is all set for its second edition after the Commonwealth Games, Tammy Beaumont will be representing and leading Welsh Fire this year. It will be a great platform for Beaumont to improve her performance in the T20 format and make a comeback in international cricket.
