Pakistan’s ambitious 2025 ICC Champions Trophy hosting party ended without a win after a rain-soddened affair against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday, February 27.

After falling to huge defeats against New Zealand and India in Karachi and Dubai respectively, the latest no-result against Bangladesh ensured the Pakistan finished the competition at the bottom of the Group A points table, securing just a solitary point from three games with a dismal NRR of -1.087.

Finishing as the worst side of the competition despite being its designated host, here we examine how much money will the Pakistan cricket team make from the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

How much money will Pakistan earn from CT 2025?

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) fought for nearly two years to bag the hosting rights of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. However, the Pakistan team’s home campaign came to an end in less than five days of the tournament after succumbing to humiliating defeats against New Zealand and India before enduring a washout against Bangladesh.

As per the prize pool of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, as announced by the ICC earlier this year, the Pakistan cricket team will earn $140,000, i.e., Rs. 1.21 crore for securing the seventh/eighth position of the tournament.

Additionally, the Pakistan team will also rake in $125,000, i.e., Rs. 1.08 crore as participation fees. Reflecting their participation and a bottom-placed finish, the Mohammad Rizwan-led team will earn Rs. 2.30 crore from the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

How much did Pakistan spend to host Champions Trophy?

Hosting an ICC event for the first time in nearly 29 years, the PCB spent a fortune in upgrading the stadiums and improving Pakistan’s cricketing infrastructure. Back in August 2024 last year, the ICC approved a budget of $70 million for hosting the competition in Pakistan. It also included another $4.5 million for contingency expenses for the PCB.

As per several news outlets, the PCB spent approximately 1.8 billion rupees on upgrading the stadiums.
