On Monday, December 2, India registered their first win in the U19 Asia Cup 2024 as they beat Japan in their second match of the tournament. The Mohammad Amaan-led side beat Japan by 211 runs to go third on the table.

India U19 have just one game left in the side, and the qualification still hangs by a thread. Meanwhile, this article will tell how India can qualify for the next round and also top the table ahead of Pakistan, who have already qualified for the semi-finals.

It is worth noting that India are placed third on the table with two points after a win and a defeat against Pakistan. Meanwhile, UAE are second with also two points in two matches. 

How Can India Qualify For Semi-Finals

India have a very simple math in front of them as they need to simply beat UAE, and with four points, they will qualify for the semi-finals. Since India beat Japan in a handsome manner, they have a net run-rate of +1.680. 

If India beat UAE, not only will they go above UAE, but they will also surpass Pakistan to top the table. Notably, Pakistan have a net run-rate of +1.120. The Boys in Green need to beat Japan by a big margin if they want to secure their place at the top of Group A. 

Also, the match against UAE, would be a do-or die match for India as a defeat in the upcoming game would end their Asia Cup campaign prematurely. 

Mohammad Amaan Shines In India's Win Over Japan

Talking about India's win over Japan, Mohammad Amaan was the key player as the skipper led from the front. Notably, Amaan smashed a century that helped India put 339 runs on the board. 

In reply, Japan tumbled for 128 runs, resulting in a 211 runs win for Boys in Blue. Chetan Sharma, Hardik Raj, and Karthikeya KP were the star with the ball and took two wickets each.
