Pakistan batting discard Asif Ali belted a 14-ball half-century against India in the enthralling Group C match of the 2024 Hong Kong International Sixes on November 1. Opening the innings for his team in a chase of 120 from six overs against a Robin Uthappa-led India, Ali whacked seven sixes and two boundaries during his 14-ball stay at the crease before retiring himself out.

The 33-year-old Pakistani batter ended up scoring 55* runs in all from 14 deliveries with an astonishing strike rate of 392.85. The belligerent top-order batter was fittingly rewarded with a ‘Player of the Match’ award for his explosive knock.

Shortly after Asif’s explosive pyrotechnics in the exhilarating six-hitting competition, a legion of cricket fans, mostly belonging from Pakistan, took to X and expressed their admirations for the 33-year-old.

Pakistan, under the leadership of Faheem Ashraf, ended up winning both matches to top the Pool C points table of the 2024 Hong Kong International Sixes.

Asif Ali, who has blazed his way to 105 runs so far from just 28 deliveries in the tournament, has emerged as its highest six-hitter as of November 1 with 14 maximums. The 33-year-old has featured in 21 ODIs and 58 T20Is for the Pakistan cricket team since making his international debut in April 2018.

However, Ali played the last of those 79 international matches for the ‘Men in Green’ back in October 2023.
