Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali picked up figures of 4-28 against Lahore Qalandars at Karachi’s National Stadium in match number six of the PSL 2025 season. Turning up for the Karachi Kings franchise, the speedster made full use of the new ball with the wickets of Mohammad Naeem and Abdullah Shafique, before snapping Fakhar Zaman and Sam Billings during the slog overs.

Through the course of his fighting spell in a high-scoring Qalandars innings, Hasan Ali levelled up with former Pakistan paceman Wahab Riaz for a huge PSL record.

Hasan Ali becomes PSL’s joint leading wicket-taker

Hasan Ali made his PSL debut back in 2016 during the inaugural edition of the tournament. With his latest four-fer against the Lahore Qalandars, the speedster extended his PSL tally to 113 wickets from 83 innings at an impressive bowling average of 22.58.

Notably, Hasan Ali levelled up with former Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz by becoming the joint highest wicket-taker in the history of PSL. Riaz, who played all his PSL matches for the Peshawar Zalmi franchise between the years 2016 and 2023, collected 113 wickets from 87 innings at an average of 22.68 and an economy of 7.79. Following Hasan Ali’s milestone wicket, here is a look at five of the most successful bowlers in PSL history in terms of number of wickets taken.

Hasan Ali now stands at the brink of becoming the most successful PSL bowler in history. The 30-year-old needs just one more wicket to eclipse Wahab Riaz’s tally, and might well attain the significant milestone during Karachi Kings’ upcoming PSL 2025 match against Quetta Gladiators in Karachi on Friday, April 18.

Nonetheless, while Hasan Ali bowled his heart out against the Lahore Qalandars, the Karachi Kings franchise still slipped to a huge 65-run defeat in match six of the competition. Chasing 202 for a win, David Warner and co. folded up for just 136 in 19.1 overs courtesy of three-wicket hauls from Shaheen Afridi and Rishad Hossain.
