In the midst of injury concerns within the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp, there's encouraging news regarding the availability of two of their overseas bowlers, Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana.

Both Sri Lankan bowlers, who briefly returned home to process their visas for the USA, are expected to rejoin CSK shortly as the business end of IPL 2024 draws near.

All Sri Lankan cricketers participating in the IPL tournament were instructed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to arrive in Sri Lanka to process their visas for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the USA.

Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, and Nuwan Thushara have arrived in Colombo for their visa processing.

Theekshana, Pathirana set to rejoin CSK

The cricketers underwent their visa interviews in Colombo yesterday, but it remains unclear when they will return to their IPL franchises to resume their participation in the tournament.

In the midst of this uncertainty, a Sri Lankan athlete manager has stated that Pathirana and Theekshana will rejoin the CSK camp on time after completing the visa process.

It is expected that the other Lankan cricketers are also likely to return to their IPL franchises after having received their US visas for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Among the four participating cricketers, Pathirana is the one who regularly features in the playing XI for CSK. The Slinga has become a key weapon for his team in the middle and especially death overs.

CSK relies heavily on him. He didn’t play the last game due to a niggle, and CSK lost the game while defending a modest target against a powerful Punjab Kings (PBKS) batting lineup.

CSK’s leading wicket-taker this season, Mustafizur Rahman, has left the CSK camp for national duties. In his absence, Pathirana’s role becomes even more important. CSK would love to have his services as soon as possible.
