Former PAK captain Rashid Latif has sparked a heated debate by taking a dig at T20 World Cup-winning skipper Rohit Sharma. His indirect, provocative remark on Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya's captaincy row has set the cricket world abuzz.

Recently, BCCI's announcement that SKY will be leading the Men In Blue in T20Is has ignited a storm of criticisms. Many argue that the then vice-captain, Hardik Pandya, should have been appointed as Rohit Sharma's successor.

However, in a press conference, Ajit Agarkar has provided a much-needed clarification. He has cleared the air by citing 'fitness' as a significant factor behind not opting for Hardik as captain.

The chief selector said:  "It's the feedback we had received from the dressing room and he's a deserving candidate. For Hardik, fitness has been a challenge."

Now, Pakistan's former wicket-keeper batter has shared his two bits by indirectly saying that in the history of the game, there have been numerous captains who weren't super fit.

“No, here they (the claims) just hand him a certificate saying he isn’t fit and there are concerns about his fitness. There are plenty of players who weren’t super fit but still became great captains. So, I think it was just an excuse,” Latif said.

Meanwhile, Team India is all set to begin their new era, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav in Sri Lanka starting July 27.
