Former India U19 captain Unmukt Chand is in line to make his BBL debut as the right-handed batter has been roped in the squad for the clash against Hobart Hurricanes.
The Renegades have made four changes in the side after Mackenzie Harvey and Jake Fraser-McGurk have returned positive COVID-19 tests and have been isolated. Apart from these two, captain Nic Maddinson has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury and Aaron Finch will be taking up the skipper’s role.
Kane Richardson has also returned home due to family reasons.
“Former India A and India U19 captain Unmukt Chand has been added to the squad, with Zak Evans, Mitch Perry and James Seymour all returning,” Renegades said in a statement.
“In the absence of Maddinson and Richardson, former skipper Aaron Finch will lead the team,” the statement added.
Chand had made headlines after he led India to their U19 World Cup winning triumph back in 2012 but failed to make a cut in the senior team. The right-hander hung his boots from Indian cricket in August last year.
