Karnataka and Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Prasidh Krishna received his maiden India call-up on Friday for the ODI series against England. Krishna was one of the three players alongside Krunal Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav to get selected for the three-match ODI series.
The fast bowler expressed his delight and tweeted, “Feels surreal when you get the call to play for your country. It's like a dream come true. Excited to play my part and contribute to the success of the team. Thanks @BCCI. Can't wait to get started.”
The 25-year-old has played 48 List A matches and has 81 wickets to his name while has scalped 18 wickets in 24 IPL matches for KKR. Krishna was one of the prime forces for Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare campaign in 2017-18 and 2019-20 campaign where he picked 17 wickets in both seasons.
In the 2021 season, where Karnataka were knocked out by Mumbai in the semi-finals of the tournament, Krishna had picked 14 wickets. The Bangalore-born is well known in the domestic circuit to trouble players with his express pace, something that the Indian captain has also spoken about in his interviews.
"Prasidh Krishna has done well in the domestic arena. It is a great luxury to have this group of bowlers in all formats. Looking at the World Cup, we have enough options," Kohli had said earlier.
Apart from Prasidh, Suryakumar Yadav who was earlier picked up for the T20Is against England stamped his authority with the bat after scoring a fifty in the fourth match in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Yadav scored 57 off 31 as India posted 185/8 in 20 overs and later restricted the visitors to 177/8 to win the match by 8 runs and level the series.
The fifth and final T20I will be played on Saturday at the same venue. The ODI series is slated to begin on March 23 in Pune. All the three matches will be held in Pune itself.
All-rounder Krunal Pandya also found a place for himself in the team. Krunal had a brilliant Vijay Hazare Trophy season after he scored 388 in 5 matches for Baroda at an average of 129. 33 including two hundreds and as many fifties to his name.
