Fans On Twitter Burst Out With 'Where Is Ashwin' After Rohit's Unexpected Move On Day 5 Leaves Them Confused

The fifth and final day of the first Test match between India and New Zealand concluded on a forgetful note for the Rohit Sharma-led side, which suffered a horrific 8-wicket loss to the Kiwis at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Despite a comeback in the second innings, there were no fireworks or unexpected twists on Day 5, as other than Jasprit Bumrah, all the other bowlers went back empty-handed. Mohd. Siraj, from one end, bowled brilliantly. He showed great composure and conceded only 16 runs from seven overs, three of which were maiden.

While Bumrah picked up two wickets, sending captain Tom Latham and Devon Conway back to the pavilion, Ravindra Jadeja, who was expected to pull off some magic on the weared-down pitch, failed to provide India with any breakthroughs and conceded 28 runs from 7.4 overs.

Why Did Rohit Sharma Not Ask Ravichandran Ashwin To Bowl Sooner?

However, Rohit's decision not to bowl Ravichandran Ashwin at the crucial moment of the game has been met with much criticism. Mainly because a skilled bowler like Ashwin has done well on the Chinnaswamy pitch, and as seen during the game, the wicket showed a bit of bounce, which Ashwin could have made great use of. Had India brought Ashwin earlier in the mix-up, he might have been able to use the pitch to the team's favour and exploit the New Zealand batters.

In fact, even former India cricketer turned commentator Dinesh Karthik expressed concern over Rohit Sharma's decision, suggesting it would be a significant setback for R Ashwin to miss an early over on Day 5 of the Test match.

Eventually, India lost their second Test match this year. However, things looked jovial on the flip side as New Zealand created history by winning a Test match in India after 36 years. This enranged fans on Twitter, now known as 'X', who were quick to question Rohit's decision and bombarded social media with numerous tweets.
